Are rainbow fish good community fish?

Sorry, I'm new to the world of fish keeping and don't know much about fish. Also, a lot of my friends have suggested me to buy and keep rainbow fish. However, what is Rainbow? Is it a good community fish?

Rainbow fish are freshwater fish that have colorful body colors. This beautiful fish is native to Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. On the other hand, rainbow fish are excellent community fish because they are generally very peaceful.
